Officers have branded a man "deplorable" after he was spotted filming a medical emergency on his mobile phone while driving.

Leicestershire Police said a woman suffered a medical episode in Burton Street, Melton Mowbray, at about 13:45 GMT on Tuesday, and a passing motorist "thought it would be a good idea to film this".

The driver was stopped and issued with a traffic offence report, which could result in six points on his licence and a £200 fine.

In a social media post, the force said filming the "busy and distressing scene" was a "deplorable thing to do".

It added: "Hopefully this post acts as a reminder to those who think this type of behaviour is acceptable.

"Have some respect for other people and concentrate on driving correctly."
