The range of services provided by a sub-post office in Douglas is being reduced.

Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) will stop offering bill payment services, foreign exchange, driving and vehicle licensing, and MiCard at the Spar outlet on Westmoreland Road in the Manx capital.

The move comes as the Treasury prepares to terminate its "no longer viable" MiCard contract, which enables the cash collection of pensions and benefits.

Meanwhile, the Department of Infrastructure has started providing driver and vehicle licensing services online.

IOMPO said MiCard and vehicle licensing collectively accounted for 75% of non-postal transactions at sub-post offices during the last financial year.

It therefore "acknowledges the substantial impact" that termination of these services will have on the financial sustainability of sub-post offices.

The post office counter, run by Mannin Retail, shut on Tuesday.

Its new limited service will re-open at 09:00 BST on Thursday.

Those who require non-postal services can still head to Douglas Post Office in Strand Street.
