Two men have been arrested after a man was stabbed during a street fight in Manchester.

Greater Manchester Police said they were called out to reports of a fight in Piccadilly Gardens at about 21:00 BST on Sunday.

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident.

Two men, aged 18 and 19, have been arrested on suspicion of assault and affray, with the 18-year-old in police custody and the 19-year-old in hospital with minor injuries, the force said.

A police representative said officers remain on scene as their investigation continues, with an increased police presence expected in the Piccadilly Gardens area over the coming days.

"This is believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the community," the representative added.
