Farmer gearing up for Pigasso road trip

A farmer is gearing up for a road trip in his pig-themed car to raise money for the hospital that cared for him during his cancer treatment.

Nathan Lister from Redgrave, Suffolk, was diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma when he was 22 but is now in remission.

The 25-year-old, who was treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge, has spruced up an old Citroen Picasso into his so-called Pigasso.

Mr Lister said people had called him "mad".

"I was offered a cheap old banger of a car with no MOT on it which I've decided to turn into a pig which is the obvious thing to do," he joked.

The car only cost Mr Lister £300 and now features a snout, tail and ears.

"I trained as a car mechanic before becoming a farmer so making it roadworthy was easy," he said.

"But making it into a pig is something you can't just buy bits off of the shelf for.

"I've got some brilliant mates who are very clever and helped me make bits [like the metal snout].

"It's all come together really well."

The trip will see Mr Lister drive up to John o' Groats in Scotland on 11 May before heading back down to Land's End in Cornwall.

Mr Lister aimed to return to Suffolk on 19 May for the Rickinghall Car Show at Rickinghall Village Hall near Diss in Norfolk.

"I'm doing it for Addenbrooke's who are the people that got me right and saved my life," Mr Lister said.

He is also raising money for Cancer Research.

The Pigasso is roadworthy ready for the trip starting on 11 May

Mr Lister's grandparents Robert and Christine Lister both said their grandson had "amazing spirit" during his six-month chemotherapy treatment.
