Motorists have been warned to expect disruption on a section of the Isle of Man TT course while a several trees are removed for safety reasons.

Daytime closures are in place on 300m (984ft) of the A1 Peel to Douglas Road from the Ballacraine traffic lights in the direction of Greeba until Friday.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said the closures between 09:30 to 15:30 GMT would allow for safe felling of infected roadside ash trees.

A marked diversion for traffic using he route is in place through from Glen Darragh Road in Glen Vine, through Foxdale, to The Hope and Ballacraine.

A recent inspection had identified a number of trees with ash dieback, which were either already dead or had deteriorated, were in danger of falling particularly in strong winds, the department said.

The work is being undertaken by a firm of arborists on behalf of the landowner who has responsibility for the trees that line the road.

Watson Nursery and the Hawthorn Restaurant remain accessible from the Douglas, direction.
