Police have issued a warning about drink driving over the summer after a number of arrests in Guernsey.

A Facebook post, external from the island's police force said officers had arrested five people on Saturday and Sunday on suspicion of drink-driving offences.

It urged people to avoid the temptation of enjoying a drink with friends during warm summer evenings before getting behind the wheel.

A police spokesperson said: "There is zero excuse for putting lives at risk. Drink driving destroys families, careers and lives - often in an instant."
