A six-year-old girl has been left with life-threatening injuries in a serious crash involving three cars.

One of the vehicles appeared to have crossed onto the opposite side of Chorley Old Road in Bolton at about 22:30 GMT on Saturday, Greater Manchester Police said.

The girl and two others have been taken to hospital.

The force has appealed to anyone with information or footage of the crash to come forward.

Officers said one of the cars had been travelling east along the road before crossing on to the opposite side by the junction with Avenue Street.

Another car was travelling in the opposite direction and the vehicles crashed.

A third vehicle that was pulling out of the junction was then also hit, police said.
