A man who raped a woman while she slept has been jailed for eight years.
Leslie Mangwa, 33, from Coventry, attacked the woman - who was sleeping after a night out - in January 2024, West Midlands Police said.
The victim awoke to find Mangwa sexually assaulting her, screamed and made him leave the room before going on to report the attack to police.
Mangwa had denied rape and claimed it was consensual but was found guilty following a trial and jailed at Warwick Crown Court.
He was also handed a restraining order in Friday's hearing and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, officers said.
The West Midlands force is encouraging anyone who has suffered sexual abuse to come forward.
"We know that reporting rape, sexual assault or another sexual crime like indecent exposure or upskirting can be daunting," a force spokesperson said.
"We're here to support you whether you're ready to report it to us or if you'd prefer to talk to someone else."
