Gloucestershire in Pics: Storms and Christmas reflections

  • Published

This week's round-up of pictures from across the county involves a beautiful scene at Bourton-on-the-Water and fun times at Cotswold Airport on board the 'Santa Plane'.

Despite the disruption of Storm Darragh at the start of the week, parts of Gloucestershire are looking stunning as we step closer to Christmas.

Christmas reflections: The colours in this photo are absolutely gorgeous. David Hanks shared it on social media and we couldn't help but share it.

As we inch closer to Christmas, scenes like this make us remember why it's so special to live in Gloucestershire, especially around Christmas time.

Abandoned: Gloucester Quays was looking eerily quiet last weekend as Storm Darragh hit.

Many events across Gloucestershire were cancelled due to the strong winds, including the Christmas Market in Gloucester.

Going down: This aerial photo shows a road where more than 20 trees were blown down as a result of Storm Darragh.

The road is still closed and being cleared on the A436, between Notgrove and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Let's hear it for the dogs: A tea party like no other, this event at Shurdington Community Centre was put on specifically for dachshunds and their owners. It was held to raise money for charity and had lots of tea, cake and plenty for the dogs to enjoy too.

The money raised is being donated to The Dog Meat Trade Dachshund Rescue and Support Group.

Volunteers at Christmas: The Salvation Army runs a Christmas present appeal every year to make sure no child goes without a gift on Christmas Day.

Volunteers, along with church officers, will be wrapping and sorting about 580 toys donated for both Cheltenham and Tewkesbury families who need them, and 630 food hampers for people who will struggle to put food on the table this Christmas.

Music lesson with a twist: Kingswood Primary School children in Wotton-under-Edge have been learning music in a unique space this week.

Next door to the school sits a beautiful Abbey Gatehouse, which dates back to the 15th Century and has been untouched for years.

Elves in action: This elf is making sure that customers enjoying the 'Flight before Christmas' experience at Cotswold Airport are nice enough to board.

The Flight Before Christmas is a performance-based experience on board a plane at the airport, lasting at least an hour and a half, including a visit to Father Christmas for a story time session.

On a walk: This lovely landscape was taken at Nympsfield by Weather Watcher 'Space Walker'.

It looks like the dog is enjoying it too!
