Detectives investigating the gun murder of a man in Walsall have been given extra powers to disperse and search people in the area.
The victim, aged in his 20s, died at the scene when he was shot on Well Lane in Blakenall, at about 17:00 BST on Monday.
Two men, aged 22 and 18, and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder and remained in police custody on Tuesday.
The Section 60 dispersal order will remain in force until 14:00 BST, police said.
Another man was wounded and treated in hospital for injuries that are not life-threatening.
West Midlands Police said a van was believed to have been shot at, injuring one passenger and killing another.
"Detectives are working around the clock and will leave no stone unturned to find out why this has happened and to make sure that anyone involved is arrested," said Ch Supt Phil Dolby.
He said people would see more police in the area over the coming days, and thanked the community for the support.
"We know that there is lots of speculation online and we will keep you informed as much as we can over the next few days," he said.
Anyone with information has been advised to contact police or Crimestoppers.
