Three charged over double stabbing in village

Firearms officers arrested the three men at a property in Brompton in North Yorkshire

Three men have been charged over "serious violence" in which two men were stabbed in a North Yorkshire village.

Emergency services were called to Brompton at about 05:30 GMT on Wednesday.

A man in his 20s and another in his 30s were found to have suffered stab wounds, with the younger man now in a serious but stable condition in hospital, according to police.

Three men, aged 23, 24 and 49, were due to appear at York Magistrates' Court later, a force spokesperson said.

The 23-year-old, from Thirsk, was charged with two offences of wounding with intent and an offence of possession of a bladed article, they added.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old, also from Thirsk, was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and two offences of wounding with intent.

The 49-year-old, from Northallerton, was charged with two offences of wounding with intent.
