Serious crash shuts road 'for some time'

Drivers are asked to avoid the scene of a "serious" crash that has shut a road near the Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire border.

Emergency services were called to Common Lane in Pleasley, between Mansfield and Shirebrook, at about 06:25 GMT on Thursday.

Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said the road was shut from the A617 to Meadow Lane junction due to the "ongoing incident".

Derbyshire Police said the stretch would remain closed "for some time" due to a "serious collision" and asked drivers to take alternative routes.
