The Rialto Plaza sign on the outside of the Moseley Avenue building is red and features a semi circle brick work design. It appears to be quite a big venue above several shops including a dance studio. There are posters of Elvis Presley and George Michael tribute nights.Image source, Google

An entertainment venue is set to close but is hosting a series of farewell events in the meantime.

The owner's of Coventry's Rialto Plaza said it had been an amazing venue which had hosted some memorable events and they wanted to see their customers return for the last remaining events.

The venue space will then be redeveloped in line with new tastes and demands, the said.

“The way people go out is changing, and we look forward to being at the heart of culture in the city,” a spokesperson said.

“Moving forward, customers want something new. In a post-pandemic world, nightlife has changed, and we recognise the need to adapt,” they added.

They said more details about the new venture would be announced in due course.

The venue will close on 3 August but shows and events taking place in the meantime are discounted to £1 per ticket.

They said it had originally opened as an entertainment venue in 2012, offering space for private hires for celebrations and wedding receptions.

It has since been a hub for live music, events and community activities, with the late Sean Lock, Jason Manford, Russell Kane, Trevor Nelson, Martin Kemp, The Three Degrees, Martha Reeves and Heather Small among those appearing.
