Man, 48, arrested after park stabbing

A 48-year-old man has been arrested after another man was stabbed in a park.

Officers were called at about 20:10 BST on Monday to reports of an incident in Christchurch Park in Ipswich, Suffolk.

The victim, a man in his 20s, sustained serious stab wound injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The older man was arrested in Ipswich earlier on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm.

Police believe the victim was approached by a man before he was attacked.

His injuries are believed to be potentially life changing but not life threatening.

The arrested man remains at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre where he was taken for questioning.

Officers believe the incident was a targeted attack and there is no wider threat to the community.

They are appealing for any witnesses to the incident or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage.
