Two more people have been arrested after a 19-year-old was stabbed multiple times.

Essex Police said the woman, who had "potentially life-changing injuries", was found at St Marys Court, Victoria Avenue, in Southend-on-Sea, at about 04:00 BST on Monday.

On Friday, a 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 39 year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. They remain in police custody.

It brings the number of people arrested in connection with the incident to seven after a sixteen-year-old boy, from the city, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and three men and a woman were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

They have been bailed until mid-July, the force added.

Inquiries were continuing and it appealed "for the public’s support with the investigation".
