Man caught with extreme animal porn 'wants help'

A man who admitted possessing extreme pornographic images of animals has been given a two-year community order.

Police found 440 extreme images on the phone of Kayne McMillan, 29, of Abbotts Way, Louth, after he was arrested over an unrelated matter in November 2019.

McMillan was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

He was sentenced at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday.

Michael Cranmer-Brown, mitigating for McMillan, urged the court to follow the recommendation made in a pre-sentence report for a non-custodial sentence.

"Mr McMillan wants to co-operate, and wants help," the barrister said.

Judge Simon Hirst told McMillan: "Given the passage of time I feel it is unnecessary to pass a custodial sentence, but plainly it is serious enough to warrant a community order."

McMillan was cleared of rape charges after a trial at the same court earlier this year.

An additional charge, accusing him of coercive behaviour, was dropped after prosecutors offered no evidence.
