Murder charge after man dies at sports club

A man has been charged with murder after another man in his 40s died from injuries after a "serious incident" at a sports club.

Police were called to the car park of Ickleford Sports and Recreation Club on Chambers Lane in Hitchin, Hertfordshire at about 22:30 BST on Sunday.

Hertfordshire Police said the victim had been assaulted in the car park and died in hospital from his injuries.

Oscar Jackson, 21, of Wilshere Crescent in Hitchin has been charged with murder and remanded into custody.

Ickleford Sports and Recreation Club closed following the incident.

On Facebook, external the club posted: "Due to unforeseen circumstances we will be shut until further notice, please bear with us when we reopen we will post on page date unknown".
