Firefighters from eight stations tackled a blaze at a farm which began in a combine harvester and affected a gas main and high-voltage power cables.

Crews were called to Mountnessing Lane, Doddinghurst, near Brentwood, at about 17:05 BST to find the machine alight, with flames spreading across three fields.

An Essex County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said it used specialist off-road vehicles, a drone and backpack sprayers.

The fire was brought under control by about 20:10. Some residents were affected by power cuts which lasted until about 02:50, according to UK Power Networks, external.
