Plans to build more than 350 homes, a drive-through restaurant and a number of business units in Derby have been submitted.

The application, from Wheeldon Brothers and Carol Diana Durose, seeks permission to build on land off Sir Frank Whittle Road, opposite Morrisons and neighbouring Breadsall Hilltop.

Of the 356 proposed homes, 100 would be houses while 256 would be classed as affordable housing apartments," the Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) said.

Derby City Council is expected to make a decision about the plan in the next few months.

In addition to the homes and drive-through, the application seeks permission to build 16 business units.

According to the LDRS, the developers said the benefits of the development would "outweigh the negative impact" on the current green wedge and greenway route.

A report submitted with the application states: "The delivery of up to 356 dwellings on the site makes effective use of the land, making a positive contribution towards housing supply in Derby."

A public consultation on the proposal runs until 3 October.
