Man in court over murder of woman

A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a woman in Rotherham.
The 53-year-old woman was found seriously injured at a house on Herringthorpe Valley Road shortly before 18:00 BST on Friday, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Laurence Ward, 57, of Herringthorpe Valley Road, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Monday charged with murder and was remanded into custody.
He will appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday morning.
