Attempted murder arrest after two attacked at home

Police were called to Fegg Hayes early on Friday morning

A man has been arrested after a man and woman were attacked and left injured after someone forced their way into a home.

The man and woman. in their 30s, were left with head and facial injuries and taken to hospital.

Police were called to reports a man had forced his way into a property near Cumberbatch Avenue, Stoke-on-Trent, at about 05:45 GMT on Friday.

A 37-year-old of no fixed address was being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated burglary, said Staffordshire Police.

The couple's injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

A large cordon was in place in Fegg Hayes as officers continued to investigate the incident.

Anybody who saw what happened or had camera footage from the area on Friday morning was asked to contact the force.
