Indie band The Enemy are returning home to perform one of their famous rock anthems that has been adopted by Coventry City fans.

The band will perform We Live and Die in these Towns live on Tuesday 4 November, in front of an area at the Coventry Building Society Arena known as singers' corner.

Formed in Coventry in 2006, the band will play ahead of the Sky Blues' home game against Sheffield United, which kicks off at 20:00.

Lead vocalist Tom Clarke told the BBC he never imagined the song would become a much-loved anthem for football fans, and it was "strange", but "humbling".

Clarke will perform alongside bass player Andy Hopkins and drummer Liam Watts.

He said: "When I wrote it, I don't think I imagined it even being a single.

"It was the acoustic track on the record. It wasn't the banger, or the one the radio was going to love.

"It was a heartfelt moment telling a story about a girlfriend's flat in Coventry on Far Gosford Street."

Released 18 years ago, the song peaked at number 21 in the UK Singles Chart but grew in popularity and has been adopted by Coventry City fans in recent years.

Clarke said: "It was never written to be an anthem. Something's happened to the song that's made it bigger than we could have ever made it.

"It's become bigger than the band. It'll probably outlive us - and that's happened with the spark [of the crowd] in the corner of this arena.

"It's so strange, but just so humbling."

The indie trio split in 2016 after a decade, but reunited in 2022 for a UK tour to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their debut album.

A new UK tour is scheduled for 2025, with tickets going on sale in February.
