Police have named a 53-year-old man who died following a stabbing outside his home.
Bedfordshire Police said David Dosa, of Farley Court, Luton, was pronounced dead at the scene, after it was called to the Farley Hill area of the town at about 14:15 BST on Thursday.
Det Ch Insp Nick Gardner, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, said his death was being treated as murder and it was "working hard to establish the circumstances".
"Knife crime has no place in our communities and we would like to reassure the public we’re working hard to identify the person responsible for this horrific attack," he added.
No formal identification has taken place, but Mr Dosa's next of kin have been informed.
Supt Lee Haines said: "We understand that this tragic incident, along with other serious knife crime incidents which have taken place in the county this week, will cause concern for our communities.
"There is simply no excuse for violence of this nature and I would like to reinforce our zero tolerance for knife crime, while reminding our knife carriers to ‘Just Drop It’ or face serious consequences."
The force was "committed to continuing our work, alongside our partners, to drive down knife crime across the county", Supt Haines said.
He added that a police cordon and high visibility patrons would continue to have a presence in the area and appealed for anyone in the community to support the force and to get in touch with any information.
