An 11-year-old girl has sparked a police alert after bringing a large knife to a primary school.
The BBC understands the girl was playing a game with friends when she pulled out the kitchen knife at Lingham Primary School in Moreton, Wirral, on 25 March.
Officers "located and seized" the knife after being called at about 14:20 GMT and no-one was hurt during the incident, Merseyside Police said.
A school spokesman said staff had responded "appropriately" and the school was "taking all necessary actions".
Merseyside Police said appropriate safeguarding measures had been put in place.
Ch Insp Dave Morgan said: "We understand the concern that such incidents can cause, especially at one of our junior schools.
"Officers will remain in liaison with the school and our partners to offer reassurance to pupils, parents, carers and staff alike."
