A man in his 40s has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a van was reportedly seen being driven erratically in east Cornwall.
Devon and Cornwall Police said officers attended the A388 southbound following the alleged incident between the Penpill and Kelly Bray at about 17:10 BST on 10 July.
The force said a man from the Callington area was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and was released on police bail while the investigation continues.
Police are looking to speak to a potential witness, believed to be a former police officer.
He had called police but, due to poor signal in the area, the emergency call system was unable to identify the phone number, Devon and Cornwall Police said.
