Guernsey's former chief minister has appeared in court for a second time, charged with creating more than 1,000 indecent images of children.

Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq did not enter a plea and spoke only to confirm his name and address.

He was remanded in custody until 6 October and is due to again appear at Guernsey's Magistrates Court ahead of an expected committal to the Royal Court.

Mr Le Tocq was arrested on 21 July and charged a month later with the possession of extreme pornography and telecommunications offences.

Earlier this month, he resigned from the States most senior political committee, Policy and Resources.

An election to replace him is expected to happen on 26 September.

He remains a member of the States of Guernsey, earning about £50,000 per year.

Mr Le Tocq was elected in ninth place at June's general election.

He ran to become chief minister in July, but was beaten by poll-topper Deputy Lindsay de Sausmarez to the position.
