Runners prepare to line up for half marathon

Over 3,800 people will run in the half-marathon

Thousands of runners and spectators are expected for the Surrey Half Marathon in Woking on Sunday.

The race begins at 09:00BST with competitors able to collect their race pack kit 90 minutes prior to the event starting.

A 5km race and a children's events are also scheduled.

Over 3,800 people will run in the half-marathon on a single loop course which follows a route from in central Woking into the countryside.

Organisers say there will be water bottle stations at various points on the half marathon route, but none on the 5km course.

Roads which will be affected by full or partial closure on the day include:

  • Kingfield Road

  • Vicarage Road

  • Westfield Road

  • New Lane

  • Sutton Green Road

  • Blanchards Hill

  • Clay Lane

  • A320

  • Burdenshott Road

  • Smarts Heath Lane

  • Smarts Heath Road

  • Blackhorse Road

  • Saunders Lane

  • Mayford Green

  • Guildford Road (B380)

  • Westfield Avenue

  • Wych Hill Lane

Those who require the use of any of the roads for an urgent use, such as a care visit or a hospital appointment, need to contact the race for alternative arrangements to be put in place.
