A man has been arrested after a suspected cannabis grow was discovered near to a fire at an electrical substation.

Emergency services were called to reports of the fire on Oxford Street in Grimsby at about 18:45 GMT on Thursday.

A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the cultivation of cannabis and abstracting electricity without authority and remains in police custody.

Northern Powergrid reported 1,200 of its customers were without power at the height of the incident.

Fire crews tackled the fire which they were called out to at about 19:30 GMT

The fire was reportedly brought under control by fire crews after they arrived at about 21:30 but a cordon was put in place with people asked to remain indoors.

Nobody was believed to have been injured and a scene guard remains in place whilst officers carry out inquires to establish the circumstances around the cause of the fire.

A spokesperson for Northern Powergrid said all customers' power was restored at 22:39 on Thursday.
