An investigation has been launched after a man sustained serious injuries in Worthing.

Emergency services were called to a property in Lindum Road at about 16:05 BST on Wednesday following reports that a man was seriously injured.

Sussex Police confirmed that an investigation was under way to understand the full circumstances.

"The public are asked to avoid the area," a police spokesperson said.

The road was closed but has since reopened.

A significant police presence is expected in the area while the investigation is carried out, police said.
