Pressures include having to hand over patients within the hospital, ambulance bosses say

People in Jersey should not call 999 unless immediate medical assistance is needed, the ambulance service says.

The service said its officers were under pressure with a high volume of calls and having to hand over patients within the hospital.

People could call their healthcare provider or pharmacist for non-urgent medical advice, it advised.

"Non-emergency calls may cause delays in us responding to life-threatening situations," it added.
