Twin sisters said opening for Jools Holland would be the “highlight of their career” so far.

Hannah and Grace, who perform as Twayn, learned to produce their own music during the Covid-19 lockdown and began releasing it last year.

The Newcastle-based 19-year-olds will play the opening set at Jools Holland’s concert at Newcastle City Hall on Thursday.

Grace said: "We can't wait. [It's] such a ‘pinch me’ moment. Definitely the biggest highlight of our career so far, I think.”

Jools Holland is performing with his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

The twins said they had seen his Christmas show quite a few times and started writing to the musician's team asking if they could support him.

They had just about given up on hearing anything, they said, when they received an email "out of the blue" asking if they were available and replied "within about 10 minutes jumping at the chance".

Hannah said playing in front of 2,000 people would be "a bit nerve-wracking" and "quite a big step up".

The video for Christmas Market has been animated by Sunderland University students

The duo plan to perform their song Christmas Market at the concert.

The song is accompanied by an animated music video created by students at the University of Sunderland.

Second-year animation students Ella MacDougall and Jenni Romeril made the video, which sets the song against a North East backdrop.
