A former BBC journalist has appeared in court charged with three counts of rape.

Jack Tymon, who worked as a reporter and presenter at BBC Radio Derby between 2021 and earlier in 2025, is accused of raping one woman twice and of raping and assaulting a second woman.

No pleas were entered when he appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court earlier in connection with the offences, which are said to have taken place in 2017.

The 27-year-old, from the Ilkeston area of Derbyshire, was bailed ahead of his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 13 October.

When contacted by BBC News, which is editorially independent of the rest of the corporation, a BBC spokesperson indicated they would not be commenting due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
