Planned engineering work will mean no trams will run from Oldham to Rochdale on Sunday, the network's operator has said.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) said work on the Metrolink line around Rochdale would see local services suspended for a day.

It will mean the usual service between East Didsbury in Manchester and Rochdale will stop at Freehold, near Oldham.

TfGM said a replacement bus will serve the tram stops between Freehold and Rochdale until the service is restored on Monday morning.

The Local Democracy Reporting Service said the work adds to ongoing disruption on the line, as complex repairs on a cracked rail link have seen services diverted between Exchange Square, St Peter's Square and Victoria in Manchester city centre since 22 January.

TfGM said Metrolink would be back to "full operations" through Victoria by early May.
