Newry man in court over gun and ammo seizure

A man from Newry and a man from County Louth have appeared in court in connection with the seizure of 18 firearms and more than 900 rounds of ammunition.

The seizure happened on Friday in Ardee in County Louth.

Mark McCourt, 33, from Edencrieve in Newry, and 27-year-old Conor O'Brian, from Kilpatrick, Ardee, appeared at Dublin District Court on Wednesday.

The court heard both men made no reply to the charges against them.

All charges related to the seizure of six AR-15 rifles and 12 semi-automatic rifles, the court heard.

Both men were arrested and charged at Drogheda Garda Station.

Neither man applied for bail and both were remanded in custody to appear in court again on 31 July.
