A boy has been found guilty of murdering a teenager in Brighton.
Mustafa Momand, 17, was stabbed in Queen's Road on 5 October and died later in hospital.
A 16-year-old boy from Southwick, West Sussex, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been found guilty of murder at Brighton Crown Court.
He is due to be sentenced on 2 May.
Prosecutor Nathan Rasiah KC had said it appeared they knew each other and the attack was likely related to Mustafa having a shared drug debt of £20,000.
On 5 October, Mustafa travelled from Croydon to Brighton for a court appearance in relation to drug offences.
While his youth worker was using the bathroom, Mustafa left the court alone when he was stabbed to death.
The defendant denied having the necessary intent for murder, Rasiah KC said.
The boy was also found guilty of making threats with a blade.
Sussex Police’s lead for knife crime and serious violence Det Ch Insp Simon Yates added: “The events of 5 October are another tragic reminder of the devastating consequences of carrying a knife."
He said the crime had a “vast” impact on the community.
Det Ch Insp Yates added: “It’s absolutely devastating this case. No verdict can remove that devastation from the family, from friends, [or] from the community.”
