Car driver critical after M1 crash with lorry

A man was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a crash between his car and a lorry on the M1.
The accident happened at the southbound exit slip road at junction 10 for Luton at about 17:45 BST on Monday.
A man in his 30s, who was in a grey Volkswagen Polo, remained in hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of a white Mercedes HGV, a 40-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A full closure of the southbound carriageway was put in place while emergency services attended the scene.
The northbound carriageway was also closed for about an hour.
Bedfordshire Police appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash or had dashcam footage to get in touch.
