Drug dealer caught with £237k and sports cars jailed

A drug dealer caught with more than £237,000 in cash and a haul of cannabis stuffed in boxes in two Manchester apartments has been jailed.

Angus McBeath, 42, was also found to have a £77,000 Audi RS4 sports car and a Range Rover which he had paid for in cash.

A parking ticket in the Range Rover led police to one of the flats where they found the Audi and more than 10kg (22lbs) of cannabis.

McBeath was jailed for three years and nine months after admitting possessing Class B drugs with intent to supply in a hearing at Manchester Crown Court.

He was also given a sentence of three years and nine months for possession of criminal property, to run concurrently.

The court heard that on the morning of 8 March 2023, police searched McBeath's apartment at South Tower on Owen Street in Manchester,

They found a parking ticket which led them to another home at the nearby Hacienda Apartments, where they found cannabis and the Audi.

Officers also found two machines used for sealing packaging and thousands of small, empty cannabis branded packages.

Connor Turner, 24, of Crewe, received a suspended sentence for possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

Turner was found not guilty of possessing criminal property.

Det Con Paul Elkin, of Greater Manchester Police, said the sentencing was "another step closer to shutting down the operations of these people and gangs who think it’s okay to sell drugs on the streets of Manchester".

He urged anyone with concerns about potential drug dealing happening in their community to contact police or Crimestoppers.
