Fire rips through three bungalows on city street

Three people have been taken to hospital after a fire ripped through three terraced properties on a Bradford estate.

The blaze broke out on The Crescent, in the Buttershaw area of the city, at around 23:49 BST on Sunday, West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) said.

Seven people who were in their bungalows at the time the fire started had managed to get out by the time emergency services had arrived.

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service said three of them were taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary.

Crews from five fire stations attended the incident, which caused extensive damage to the homes involved.

A spokesperson for the fire service said the cause of the incident was being investigated.

The houses are owned by Anchor, which according to its website, offers "purpose-built and well-maintained rented accommodation for people over the age of 55".

An Anchor spokesperson said: “A fire occurred at Reevy Park Court and The Crescent, a housing location in Buttershaw, in which no one was harmed.

"We have a robust fire safety plan in place, and we are working with the fire brigade who are investigating the cause.

"The safety and wellbeing of our residents is paramount.”
