A man has been arrested after a cyclist was seriously injured when her bicycle collided with an e-scooter.
Hertfordshire Constabulary said it was called to the incident on Ridgeway, in Welwyn Garden City, at about 20:00 BST on Sunday.
In a statement the force said: "The rider of the e-scooter failed to stop at the scene."
A 20-year-old man from Hatfield has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing serious injury while disqualified.
Police said he remains in custody for questioning.
The female cyclist, who is in her 40s, remains in hospital in a "serious but stable condition", according to police.
Welwyn Hatfield Ch Insp Pete Frost added: “I would like to issue a reminder that it is currently against the law to ride e-scooters on public land anywhere in Hertfordshire.
"We will be carrying out regular patrols in Welwyn Hatfield and targeting those who use e-scooters in this area."
Officers have asked drivers who may have been in the area at the time of the collision to check any dashcam footage.
