Two women were injured after being hit by a car in Eastbourne, police said.

A 60-year-old woman suffered a serious injury near the Eagle pub in South Street and was taken to Eastbourne District General Hospital before being discharged.

A second woman, aged 47, suffered minor injuries in the crash, which involved a Mercedes at about 21:20 BST on Saturday, Sussex Police said.

Police appealed for help to trace a third pedestrian who was also involved in the collision but has not been found.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 30-year-old woman, was not injured.

PC Stuart Kenway said: “We are appealing for further witnesses and information about this collision.

“Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident, or of the relevant vehicle in the area at the time, is asked to contact us.”
