Firefighters fight fire at fire station
- Published
Firefighters battled a blaze which broke out at one of their own on-call stations.
Cumbrian crews tackled flames which were spotted at Lazonby On-Call Fire Station at 00:40 GMT on Thursday.
The "small fire", believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, was contained to one room used as office space and was extinguished by teams from Penrith and Carlisle East.
There was no-one in the building at the time, while the vehicle and equipment housed there escaped damage.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the suspected electrical fault will be "investigated further".
A plan has been put in place to ensure there is no impact to on-call crew cover in the area and therefore no impact on the community, the service said.
