A new round of funding is being launched for community projects in an area of Surrey.

Guildford Borough Council says the new round of funding through Crowdfund Guildford starts on Tuesday.

Projects will be able to bid for up to £25,000 and it is hoped they will help prevent crime, improve wellbeing, and support people who are hard to reach and come from different cultures.

A Crowdfund Guildford spokesperson said: "Guildford residents know best what is needed in their neighbourhoods and have the skills and creativity to shape the future of Guildford."

The council said it wanted to give money to projects that helped vulnerable groups, made rural areas better, and improved green spaces.

Schools and parish councils are also being encouraged to apply for funding to "bring their community-centric ideas to life".

Created by the council in partnership with crowdfunding platform Spacehive, Crowdfund Guildford was founded to give community groups the opportunity to "imagine, create, and fund projects that matter to them".
