Plans to expand a Leicestershire town by building 1,500 new homes have been approved.
The extension to Earl Shilton is proposed for 104 acres of land off Clickers Lane, along with a new school, community hub, shops and employment land.
Three developers - Bloor Homes, Jelson Homes and Barwood Land - are behind the scheme, which is known as the Earl Shilton Sustainable Urban Extension.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council's planning committee voted to approve the application at a meeting on Tuesday.
During the meeting, councillors discussed issues with highway arrangements and the proximity of employment land to homes.
However, the committee voted to approve the plans by 10 to three, with three members choosing to abstain.
Prior to the meeting, planning officials had recommended the plans were approved.
Designs show the site will be accessed by roads created off the A47, Mill Lane and Astley Road.
A total of almost £22m has been negotiated from the developers as a contribution towards local services and facilities, including the building of the new primary school.
The development was approved in principle, with specific details due to be agreed at a later date.
