Festive ice sculpture displays to return to town

An ice trail featuring a series of festive sculptures is set to return to Bridlington after its successful launch last year.

The free event will take place on 15 and 16 November from 11:00 GMT, with the sculptures being taken down at 17:30 on the Saturday and 15:30 on the Sunday.

The frozen displays will be scattered around the seaside town, portraying traditional Christmas scenes as well as maritime wonders reflecting the area's coastal heritage.

East Riding of Yorkshire councillor Nick Coultish said: "The ice displays are certain to be real crowd pleasers, drawing on a festive theme and shedding light on the coastal town, rich with culture and history.''

The project, funded by the government's shared prosperity fund and local businesses, will also feature live ice carving at midday each day.

Fire and ice shows will also take place twice a day across the weekend and will include ice sculpting using chainsaws and power tools.

Families will be able to visit of Santa's Grotto on the Saturday, meeting Santa on his sleigh.

Throughout the weekend the Bridlington Christmas Food Festival will also be take place on King Street.
