Traders and performers sought for Christmas market

A council has invited market traders and entertainers to take part in a city centre Christmas market.
Peterborough City Council confirmed the city’s Christmas lights switch-on event will go ahead on Friday, 22 November, alongside the opening of Peterborough Cathedral's Christmas market.
This will be followed by a festive-themed market to be held between 1 December and 24 December in Cathedral Square and along Bridge Street in Peterborough.
The authority said applicants did not need to commit to a month and can apply for as many days as they were available to do.
Dennis Jones, the leader of Peterborough City Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to be trading or performing in the centre of Peterborough at one of our busiest times of the year.
“Now Christmas is saved by local businesses and organisations, we are looking for festive market traders and performers to deliver that extra festive sprinkle for those in our city centre.”
The city's Christmas celebrations were saved after its cash-strapped council met its target of raising £56,000 in business funding for decorations and lights.
The funds have now been secured following donations and sponsorships from businesses, organisations, individuals and city councillors.
