The States Employment Board has extended the contract for its chief executive officer and head of public services.
Dr Andrew McLaughlin said it remained a "privilege" to be in his role which has been extended until December 2026.
At the States meeting on Tuesday, Chief Minister Deputy Lyndon Farnham explained Dr McLaughlin had also received a pay rise.
He said the salary of the chief executive has increased from £250,000 to £276,000 under the new contract.
Public sector continuity
Farnham said: "The salary of the chief executive was set at a level of £250,000 and it has been at that rate since 2018.
"Under the new contract, the chief executive's new salary will be £276,000.
"The terms and conditions are broadly the same but have been adapted accordingly to reflect his status for a longer contract."
He said the contract extension bought "stability and continuity across the public sector up to and after the election".
Farnham also said Dr McLaughlin had demonstrated clear and collaborative leadership across the public service in Jersey, as well as good governance and sound financial control.
"We look forward to working with him further," added Farnham.
Dr McLaughlin said: "I am committed to serving the Jersey community and supporting the chief minister and government, as we continue to provide essential frontline services and deliver on our priorities."
