An 18-year-old driver has been charged after a police officer was injured in an incident in Cheltenham.
Francis McCarthy, 18, of Gerrards Cross in Buckinghamshire, has been charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen.
The incident took place on St James Square at 15:00 BST on 22 October.
Inspector Matt Richards, from Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Local Police Team, said the injured officer was now recovering.
He said: “The officer was thankfully - and luckily - not seriously injured, but has suffered pain, bruising and some soft tissue damage.
“He will take a week or two to recover fully, but he is in good spirits and thankful for the help of members of the public who came to his assistance."
Mr McCarthy appeared in Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and was bailed to appear at Gloucester Crown Court on 2 December.
