The car crashed into the front of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill shop in Southport

A car has crashed into a shop in Southport, police have said.

A black Mercedes smashed into the front of the Edinburgh Woollen Mill store on Lord Street shortly shortly after 13:00 GMT, said Merseyside Police.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue assisted at the scene as police temporarily closed the road.

The Mercedes driver remained at the scene, police said, and there were no reports of any injuries.
