A road will be closed for two weeks to carry out improvement works.

The C1003 Longtown, between the A7 and Longtown Primary School in Cumbria, will be shut from 4 to 15 August, excluding weekends.

Cumberland Council said the carriageway works were "essential" and it apologised for any inconvenience caused.

The road will be closed to through traffic at all times, with access restricted to residents.

Pedestrian and emergency services access will be maintained at all times and waste collections will not be affected, the council said.
