A man who threatened a woman with a knife while she was unloading her shopping into her car has been jailed for six years.
In December, William Mee threatened his victim with a slip knife and held onto her car door to prevent her from leaving Morrisons car park on North Road, in Darlington.
The woman shouted for help, and Mee fled the scene.
He was arrested by Durham Police after he was seen on CCTV leaving the store and his electronic GPS tag placed him in the area.
Mee, 33, of Cricket Field Row, Darlington, was later charged with attempted robbery.
He pleaded guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing. He was sentenced to six years' imprisonment with an additional three years on extended licence at Teesside Crown Court.
